Fahim Ahmed's Prison Art 01/29/2010
The two sketches have been drawn by a Muslim brother, Fahim Ahmed, who has been arrested and imprisoned in Toronto for the last 3.5 years. He is still awaiting trial, and was charged as a part of the ‘Toronto 18’ terror case (refer to Local News: Toronto 18—Recent Developments or Counterintuitive Decisions? for more information). He loves to draw, and as seen in the sketches below, he beautifully illustrates the reality of his unpleasant situation. Keep him and all those suffering injustices around the world in your duas. The first sketch has the first kalima written on it and shows hands asking for Allah swt’s mercy and guidance. The second drawing is of his cell while in solitary and includes a few words about his condition. The third picture is of a butterfly he drew for his daughter (three years old at that time), and titled “to My Little Butterfly”.
